From Mike’s Desk …

Wednesday of last week (February 25th) was Ash Wednesday – the beginning of the season of Lent, the season set aside in the Christian calendar for preparation for Easter. Lent is traditionally about confession, repentance and sacrifice – identifying with the suffering of Jesus, and in some way seeking to journey with Him towards the cross, so that when we get to Easter we can celebrate both His death and resurrection meaningfully and fittingly, with a profound sense of the wonder of both events.

Lent is also, traditionally, a time for preparing for baptism. The symbolism of baptism is a picture of death and resurrection – the old me is dead and buried, and in relationship with Jesus, I am a new creation. There is no more appropriate time than Easter to be baptised!

If you are interested in baptism, I’d love to talk with you about it. Please let me know.
