From Mike’s Desk …
December 19th, 2008 by Mike Enright
This is the time of year when people tend to get reflective (if they’ve got time for that luxury in the midst of present-buying, Christmas celebrations, holiday planning etc!) We start to think back over the year – to wonder how it could possibly have passed so quickly, and to consider what have been the highlights and the low points.
For some members of the KBC community, 2008 has been a tough year; and there are still challenging times ahead. Particularly in the latter months of this year, we seem to have had a high proportion of people going through difficult times, in varying ways. But a recurring refrain I’ve heard during this period is how much people have appreciated the support and love and prayers of their church family – that KBC is a caring community, and that this makes a huge difference. This is of course how it’s meant to be! This is what we are called to be – a people who love each and care for one another, who bear one another’s burdens – and in so doing, demonstrate the love of Christ. I’m really encouraged that this is happening. I guess you could say that the KBC community is becoming a sanctuary, where people are welcomed and loved and nurtured and cared for. That’s COOL!!
On behalf of the rest of the staff team, I want to wish you all a very blessed and Christ-centred celebration of Christmas. Thank you so much for your love and support and prayers for us and our families during this year. If you’re going away, have a refreshing break and travel safely. We look forward to continuing the journey together in 2009.
… a great and joyful event, … meant for everybody, worldwide: A Saviour has just been born … Christ the Lord.
