This Sunday (October 19th) is “Micah Sunday” - a global day of prayer to mobilise churches to engage with global poverty issues. This is an annual occasion, promoted by Micah Challenge, a global Christian campaign which aims to deepen Christian engagement with impoverished and marginalised communities, and to challenge international leaders to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, and so halve global poverty by 2015. Micah Sunday is scheduled each year on the Sunday closest to the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, declared by the United Nations for October 17th. Micah Challenge takes its name from Micah 6:8
What does the LORD require of you? To do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.
Our speaker at Night Church on Sunday, Paul Thompson, works for Micah Challenge in New Zealand, and he will provide insights into this global campaign to end poverty, and how we can be involved.
