This week has been birthday week in the Enright household.? In a period of?four days, we have celebrated the birthdays of three of our daughters!? This has reminded me of two important things …

Firstly, I’ve been reminded what a precious gift family is, and how good it is to celebrate together the milestones in the lives?of family members.? This is of course true in the context of a church community also.? It’s a great privilege to be part of a church family – may we never lose sight of that.? It’s good to be able to celebrate together the significant events in our life together, as well as the good things happening in individuals’ lives.? For example, it was great last Sunday to celebrate with the Wilson family as they, and we,?gave thanks for the gift of Nicholas.

Secondly, my daughters’ birthdays this week have reminded me how quickly the years are passing!? If they are as old as they are, then I must be getting on a bit!? An awareness of the passing of the years is a good impetus to ensure we make the very best of each day – making sure that we don’t allow lingering grudges and unforgiveness to affect our relationships, and ensuring that we use each day well, in line with God’s purposes – people who bring blessing and love and hope wherever we find ourselves.
